Take the Windows Clipboard to an all new level!

The copy and paste feature in Windows is a great tool. Especially when you are creating your SALSA Syllabus template in Canvas. It sure beats typing in all that information. However, as many of you at Butler Community College have come to realize, it's still labor intensive to navigate back and forth between your digital syllabus to copy text and then go back to your SALSA template to paste it.

Well, with ClipX, you can copy and retain 1,024 items instead of just one! Yes, you can actually copy the different sections of your syllabus and then when you have copied it all, you can navigate to your SALSA template and select each piece of information to paste in. There are other free downloads that can do the same, but I found this one was very easy to use, and I like easy!!

Take a look at the example below. I have copied several items and when I use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+V, the clipboard window appears with all my items I've pasted, with the most recent on top. Then, I just click on the item I want pasted in and that's it!

Check out a review from Softonic and access the free download. I've tested it and think it's the bombdiggety! However, if you use another multiple copy/paste tool, let us know about it!

Keyboard Shortcuts for your iOS Devices

I've been depending on my iPhone more and more for everyday tasks, and I've utilized lots of copy/pasting.  However, I always got frustrated when I'd try to copy one word or one phrase only to have it copy the wrong thing, or cut off part of it, or do the next paragraph...just frustrating!

I was thrilled to find this article on shortcuts.  I think I'll be using the "tap twice on the word" one all the time!

What tricks do you know?

Google Chrome Shortcut Keys

Save time by learning how to use shortcut keys.  Since I use the Google Chrome browser a lot, I know a lot of the chrome shortcut keys.  Here's a few of my favorites:

CTRL + T will open a new tab.

CTRL +R will close the current tab that you are in.  If you accidentally close a tab without meaning to, try CTRL + SHIFT + T- it will reopen the last tab you closed.

CTRL + SHIFT + V will paste the content from your clipboard as plain text.  This can be extremely helpful if there's a lot of crazy formatting on whatever you copied.

That is an extremely small sampling of the many, many shortcuts for Google Chrome.  What's your favorite shortcut?  Leave a comment below!

Basic Keyboard Shortcuts

A Quizlet for Drilling in Some Time-Saving Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are one of those things that once you know them, it's easy to think everyone does. But, like many things, that is not the case. Here's a Quizlet for you and/or your students who want a few time-saving shortcuts. Here is a tool called "Quizlet" set up to aid in learning some keyboard shortcuts. For a Mac, the command key is used instead of the control key.

Remember to try out the "gear" at the top-right and the "Choose a Study Mode" at the bottom-right for various options. Have fun!
