Have you experienced the frustration of not being able to open a file or attachment because it is corrupt? Most of us have. Students are using this to gain time to complete an assignment.
Sites offer to sell corrupt files (of varying size in accord with the assignment) for students to submit to instructors. This gives the student a few extra days to complete the work and submit it after the instructor discovers the problem and contacts the student.

I had a student this past year that sent me a corrupted file and come to think of it, the individual had several other excuses for things being late.
It is interesting....
I've had a few corrupted files as well...Hmmmm...
